Clipping with Style

Please choose this option if you wish your dog to be clipped but require styling of any part of the groom. This includes all clipping other than short all over. Please note for the purposes of grooming that Clipping and Shaving are the same. Clipping means using clippers to cut the coat short and the blade/comb attachment determine the length clipped off.

Styling grooming option means all of the following:

  • Styling of head, face, tail.

  • Breed specific styling that involves scissoring/clipping using "Notes From The Grooming Table" as a breed standard guide and can be a show standard clip and all variations from this.

  • Grooming that requires intensive drying, brushing out, fluffing, detangling and so on, prior to clipping one or more lengths or blending. Even if only one body part is involved. eg. face.

The reason for this distinction from "clip off - short all over" is that more skill, time and effort goes in to producing a quality outcome. The charge is higher.

We always hope to achieve what is required by each client but it is essential that each client is clear with details about what they want to achieve, especially if they are new to us. Our experience shows there is a large difference in both communication of and interpretation of verbal instructions. Therefore, to achieve a satisfactory clip of all dogs it is helped if on or prior to the first appointment the following can be done:

  • A photo is provided of the dog now and a photo of what the owner is hoping to achieve.

  • Any previous grooming experiences.

  • Any issues such as matting, dog anxiety or reactivity must be fully explained as this will affect what can be achieved or the time it takes.

  • If for whatever reason, the dog is not brushed between grooms the groomer is informed as this affects the state of the coat and the willingness of the dog to be brushed. The clients desired outcome may in this instance not be achievable.

  • Clients to be aware that the final 10% of the groom is what distinguishes between a polished, uniform clip with attention to detail and a groom which looks choppy, rough and uneven. This is especially true of dogs that are anxious and move about extensively during the groom. If not enough time is booked the groomer will find it very hard to finish all to a high standard.

  • If there is insufficient time booked for everything requested to be done, the groomer will not complete 100% of the dog. Rather than presenting at finish a 100% dog at 50% completion; the groomer will always provide a 100% quality groom and but may only complete 50% of the dog for example. Where the groomer's reputation is based upon how others view the visual outcome, the finished presentation of a part groomed dog must reflect the lack of time rather than the lack of groomers skills.

THANK YOU.
